Good results of the Soja Plus Programme create possibility of expansion into other sectors of the agricultural chain
Eight thousand rural producers, 3,200 properties producing 13 million tons of soy – about 10% of Brazil’s annual production, approximately 3.7 million hectares of soy, investments of R$33 million. These are some of the numbers accumulated over ten years by the country’s largest private programme of technical assistance in the agricultural sector, the Soja Plus Programme.
This week, ABIOVE, the Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries, published the Programme’s official report containing a compilation of the important results through 2020.
According to Bernardo Pires, ABIOVE’s Sustainability Manager, the Programme contributes to continuous improvements in Brazil’s agricultural activities. “In ten years, the social, environmental and economic indicators in the country’s main producing regions have evolved significantly”, he stated.
Next week, during the 2021 Soja Plus Brazil Seminar, ABIOVE and the Programme’s partners will announce the regional numbers for the states where the Programme has been implemented: Bahia, Maranhão, Piauí, Goiás, Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso do Sul. Together, these states produced 45 million tons of soy in the 2020/21 crop year. This event will also disclose news on the Programme’s expansion into other agricultural and livestock farming activities, the work regarding farm management, and cases of sustainability and best practices, as well as new terms of cooperation, such as that which will be announced by the Bank of Brazil.
The 2021 Soja Plus Brazil Seminar will take place online on 2nd September 2021, at 4:00 pm, and is free of charge. Registration can be made on: https://forms.gle/GR4KA69DDnaK5r4r8.
